Accommodation Rebate
Some patients and their escorts are eligible government subsidies to help cover travel and accommodation costs whilst attending hospital. Please contact the Social Work Department at Peter Mac by telephoning 03 9656 1031 to discuss your eligibility.

Accounts
Patients are invoiced weekly for the duration of their stay and upon departure. All payments are to be made at the Cashiers desk (Mon-Fri 8.00am to 4.00pm) on the Ground Floor of Peter Mac. All outstanding debt is to be paid before departure. If you plan to check out prior to the booked departure date it is your responsibility to contact the Apartment Co-ordinator.

Alcohol
Consumption of alcohol is permitted but should be done responsibily and in moderation.

Bank
Full banking facilities for all the major banks are available in nearby Collins Street. A Commonwealth Bank ATM is available on the Lansdowne Street side of Peter Mac.

Brochure Stand
A brochure stand is located on the ground floor and includes information about Melbourne events, places of interest, and public transport.

Car Parking
Limited car parking is available in St Andrews Place. Please discuss your requirements when booking your accommodation.

If you do use the car parking facilities, you will be given a car park access card, for which you are solely responsible. Keep this card in a safe place at all times. If your card is lost you will be responsible for the cost of replacement.


Check In/Out
Check-in time is 2pm. Checkout is 10.30am. Please notify the Apartment Co-ordinator one day prior to checking out. Payment of accounts must be settled upon check out. Please contact the Social Work Department or the Apartment Co-ordinator for more information.

Chemist
Chemists are situated in Victoria Parade near St Vincent's Hospital and in Collins Street.

Coffee Shop
A coffee shop is located on the ground floor in the main hospital builing. It is open Monday to Friday 7.00am - 6.00pm, Saturday & Sunday 9.00am - 4.00pm and offers a range of light meals, snacks, drinks, confectionery, newspapers and magazines.

Complaints
If you have any issues in relation to the Apartments, you should discuss this matter with the Patient Advocate on ext.1870 or the Apartment Co-ordinator on ext.1047.

Emergencies - Dial 3333
In an emergency, dial 3333 stating your room number and the nature of the emergency. An emergency evacuation map can be found on the back of the door to each apartment and in the corridor.

Fire Safety - Smoke Alarms
All apartments are fitted with smoke alarms for your safety. If this alarm is activated by cooking fumes, it can be silenced for a short time by pressing on the tab marked by the green dot. If the fumes have not cleared, the alarm will sound again.

Housekeeping
Cleaning of the apartments is scheduled weekly. Between cleaning, you will need to look after your own cleaning and linen needs. Garbage can be disposed of in the chute provided at the eastern end of the floor. Please seal all bags and dispose of rubbish carefully. A recycle bin is located on the ground floor in the foyer of No 10.

Bed linen, towels and kitchen linen will be provided and changed on a weekly basis. A linen cupboard with additional linen is available at the eastern end of each floor. Please place all soiled linen into the linen skip located in the laundry on each floor.


Laundry
Laundry facilities (washing machine and dryer) are provided on each level. Please remove your washing from the machines as soon as possible for the convenience of others. A drying rack, iron and ironing board has been provided in your room.

Mail
Mail is delivered to the Institute Monday to Friday. Using the following address will assist sorting of mail:

A mailbox and express mailbox is located in Lansdowne Street, across the road from Peter Mac.


Medical Attention
If you are currently undergoing treatment at Peter Mac and experience difficulties with your health, please call the switchboard on '99'. You will be connected to the Bed Manager / Clinical Services Coordinator who will advise you what to do.

Mobile Phones and Internet
There is no restriction on the use of mobile phones or mobile internet devices within the Apartments.

Pets
Pets are not permitted within the Apartments or Peter Mac.

Public Telephones
Public telephones are located on the Ground Floor of Peter Mac (near the main enquiry desk). Each apartment has a telephone. They are available for incoming calls and for contacting Peter Mac Apartments. Outgoing calls (local, STD and IDD) require a phoneaway card that may be purchased from the Main Enquiry Desk at Peter Mac, during office hours.

White and Yellow Pages are supplied in each apartment.


Room Allocation
In case of an emergency it is important that we know the number of occupants in each room. Please notify the Apartment Co-ordinator if additional people are accommodated.

Room Changes
Please be aware that in order to accommodate the special needs of some patients and/or families, room changes may necessary. Assistance with moving can be provided upon request. We appreciate your understanding when these situations arise.

Security
The apartments are monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Security personnel also provide random security patrols of the area. If you require assistance from Security, please telephone the switchboard on 99.

Smoking
Smoking is not permitted within the Apartments or Peter Mac.

Staff Identification
All Peter Mac staff are easily identified by a photo identification badge.

Taxis
Taxis can be booked on the direct line telephone, located near the main enquiries desk on the ground floor of Peter Mac.

Valuables
As there are no facilities to secure valuables so it is advisable not to bring any valuables with you. Peter Mac does not accept responsibility for damage to or loss of your valuables while in the Apartments.

Vending Machines
Vending machines containing drinks and snacks are located in the foyer area on the ground floor of 10 St Andrews Place, where the apartments are located. There are also vending machines near the main enquiries desk at Peter Mac.

Visitors
There are no time constraints for visitors to the apartments. All residents may receive visitors at the main entrance on the ground floor, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, but we do ask that you be considerate of others.
