The Peter Mac Cup
In 2009, the seventeenth annual Peter Mac Cup took place between AFL clubs Carlton and Collingwood at the MCG on Sunday 17th May.
The inaugural Peter Mac Cup between these arch rivals took place in 1992. The brainchild of Mr Sam Smorgon AO, this annual blockbuster has raised over $350,000 for cancer research. The great success of this day is due to all the volunteers from HMAS Cerberus, the Rotary Club of East Keilor and Peter Mac staff, family and friends. We’d also like to thank the overwhelming generosity of the Carlton and Collingwood supporters who always give so generously to Peter Mac. The Cup is supported by the Peter Mac Cup Breakfast, where club presidents, coaches and players come together for some healthy rivalry, Peter Mac awareness-building and a vigorous dose of fundraising!
