Cancer Information & Support

Cancer Information & Support - Peter Mac Cancer Centre

Staffed by our dedicated Cancer Support Nurse, the Peter Mac Cancer Information and Support Centre is a resource available to all who are affected by cancer whether you are a patient, family member or friend.

Being told you have cancer can be a worrying and confusing time for you and those close to you. There are many decisions to make about the treatment and care you will receive. It often helps to find out more about your illness and what may happen to you. Being better informed can help you feel more in control of your situation.

The Cancer Information and Support Centre is a quiet, comfortable area where up-to-date information about cancer and its treatment is freely available.

The information and resources available for you include: fact sheets, booklets, reliable website information, internet access, multilingual information and DVD's.

Most information is available to take and keep, some DVD's and videos are available for loan. The Cancer Support nurse or a trained volunteer can help you find the information you are looking for. There is also a calendar of support and information sessions for patients, families and friends that are held at Peter Mac.

Links to some of the information available are located on the left hand side of this webpage.

Anyone is welcome to drop in and browse the materials and speak to the Cancer Support Nurse. You can also telephone or email the Cancer Support Nurse. Appointments are not necessary, but can easily be made to make sure you get the time you need with the Cancer Support Nurse.
