| About Pastoral Care | ||||||
| Pastoral Care Workers are part of the multidisciplinary team providing care for patients, their families and friends at Peter Mac. You may want somebody to listen to you and be a companion for you throughout your contact with Peter Mac. Our staff is available to offer you support without giving unwanted advice or intruding in your life. There is a Pastoral Care Worker for each ward and department. Their service is available 24 hours a day. | ||||||
| What we do | ||||||
| The Pastoral Care department provides an on-call service 24hours a day and seven days per week. Group Meditation is facilitated by a Pastoral Carer each Monday and Thursday from 11am - 12md in the Place of Peace on the Ground Floor. Inpatients and outpatients, relatives and friends are all welcome to participate, regardless of level of experience. A Christian Ecumenical Communion Service is held each Sunday morning at 9.30 a.m. All patients, relatives and staff are welcome to attend. An annual memorial service is held to remember and reflect on the lives of Peter Mac patients. | ||||||
| The Place of Peace | ||||||
| The Place of Peace is open 24 hours a day. It is an area within the hospital for reflection. It is a place of sanctuary with a calm environment that evokes peace, as well as a place for religious observations and practices. The Place of Peace is for everyone, for people of all faiths or no religious affiliation to use and experience. We hope patients, visitors and staff will find it nurturing. The Prayer Room is located immediately on the right before entering the Place of Peace. It is a small lounge room containing sacred texts and icons for Christian, Islamic and Jewish faiths. Within the Place of Peace, there is an organ and a piano. These instruments are able to be used by patients, visitors and staff. Located in the corridor leading to the Place of Peace and the Prayer Room is a book where you are able to write prayers of thanksgiving, hope, despair and request. | ||||||
